Awardees of the first Helmholtz Incubator Software Award
The call for the first Helmholtz Incubator Software Award was opened on the first July 2023. On 15. July this year, the Helmholtz President, Prof. Dr. Otmar D. Wiestler, informed the respective centres about the award winning participants.
The Helmholtz Incubator Software Award is a joint initiative of Helmholtz Federated IT Services (HIFIS), the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA), the „Helmholtz Platform for Research Software Engineering - Preparatory Study“ (HiRSE_PS), and the Helmholtz Open Science Office. Participants are asked to add their software to the Helmholtz RSD upon submission.
The award splits up into three categories:
Scientific Originality Prize
This prize is awarded for the innovation contribution and the scientific results achieved with the software. It is awarded with 5.000€.

Sustainability Prize
This prize is given for software that is sustainable in the sense of software engineering according to the FAIR principles and for an extensive support and participation through the scientific community. It is awarded with 3.000€.

Newcomer Prize
This prize is awarded for young software with great potential and a visible growth rate in its application. It is awarded with 2.000€.
