The three-day Helmholtz Codes! workshop, jointly organised by HiRSE, HIFIS, and HIDA, successfully concluded today at Projektträger DLR in Berlin. Invitations to the workshops were sent beforehand to every contact person of a software registered in the Helmholtz RSD. The event brought together more than 50 code authors from all over the Helmholtz Association, covering most of the Helmholtz research centres and research fields.

Over the course of the workshop, the attendees engaged in dynamic discussion sessions on how Helmholtz can foster innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in research software development. The workshops outcome will be distilled into an internal short position paper, summarising the key findings and recommendations. This document will be presented to Helmholtz decision-makers, aiming to shape future initiatives for research software and research software engineering within Helmholtz.

The Helmholtz RSD played a key role in this workshop. It not only lists great research software written within Helmholtz, but it provides a stage for people who care for this software.
