The call for the third round of the Helmholtz Software Award has been opened today.

As in the previous years, the award will be granted to Helmholtz scientists, engineers and teams incl. PhD Students that develop software within Helmholtz. The categories are:

• Best Scientific Software for innovative contributions and scientific results achieved with a software.
• Sustainability for software that is sustainable in the sense of software engineering according to the FAIR principles, and for extensive support and participation of the scientific community.
• Newcomer for young software solutions with great potential and visible growth rate in application.

The Helmholtz Centres can now nominate up to three candidates until 17. April 2026. If you would like to know more about the submission process, visit the corresponding page by the Helmholtz Open Science Office.
