A tool to migrate sensor metadata from the observation data model to the Helmholtz Sensor Management System via API.
ODM2SMS is a Python script for the migration of metadata from the observation data model (ODM) to the sensor-management-system (SMS) data model.
The observation-data model is a relational data model combining observation data and the corresponding metadata. The migration tool extracts the metadata and inserts it the Helmholtz Sensor Management System using API calls. The tool is highly configurable in terms of the source database and the target sensor-management system and the main use case is the migration of the Tereno metadata for several thousand devices to the Sensor Management System.
The Sensor Management System (SMS) allows the comprehensive acquisition, administration and export of meta data of platforms, sensors and measurement configurations by stations and campaigns operated in the Helmholtz research field Earth & Environment.
